Scouting uses recreational activities to help young people develop leadership and teamwork skills, build confidence and self-esteem, and learn how to take responsibility for themselves. There are 35 million Scouts in 216 countries around the world. Over half a billion people have made the Scout Promise since the Movement was founded in 1907.
Scouting promotes the healthy active lifestyle through outdoor adventures every month of the year. Some things the Scouts did last year:
The Scout Motto is "Be Prepared". Scouts develop self-confidence by learning skills and putting them into practise. In Patrols of six to eight, Scouts elect a Patrol Leader and work together as a team, learning to take more responsibility for themselves.
At the Scout troop's weekly meeting, Scouts play games and learn skills to prepare for weekend outings. Outings include bike trips, hiking, canoeing, archery, obstacle courses, cooking, and camping.
The Scout Troop is lead by parents and other volunteers from the community. All volunteers complete a screening process.
Thursdays, 7:00 to 8:45 PM at The Cedars, 543 Beechwood Drive, Waterloo
